Leaving A Trail

I recently came upon this quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, and thought that I would pass it on. It struck me as profound, yet simple.

"Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."

We cannot be satisfied with the status quo of what previous generations have provided. While it is intelligent to stay away from the mistakes of our predecessors, we cannot be afraid to risk new mistakes. Leaders take those risks and step into the unknown, leaving a trail for the rest of the world to follow.
